a cemented lens is also referred to as achromatic lens. it is formed by cementing two single lenses, and its performance is much higher than that of a single lens in multi-color (white light) imaging. each achromatic lens is cemented from two lenses of different materials to correct the chromatic dispersion of glass. the chromatic aberration is eliminated, so the achromatic lenses have been extensively used for multi-color illumination and imaging to improve the cost effectiveness.
